What happens to women who live in Brazilian territories facing desertification?
Award-winning directors Beatriz Prates and Nádia Pontes went to the field to understand how they have been organizing themselves to face this huge climate change.
In the documentary “Those Who Remain…”they want to show how women are using their ancestral knowledge to guarantee their crops, restore the land and keep their communities united.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO TELL THIS STORY?
Desertification in Brazil affects the semi-arid region of the Northeast. It is the most populated semiarid region of the world. But this subject is neglected by authorities and society. “Those Who Remain…”wants to call attention to this matter and start a conversation regarding public policies and solutions for the communities.
